Best Duas to Read During Umrah in Ramadan

Umrah is a highly virtuous pilgrimage, and when performed during Ramadan, its rewards are greatly multiplied. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجًّا
“Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj (in reward).”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 1782, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 1256)

This hadith highlights the immense blessings of performing Umrah during the holy month. Since Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, and seeking forgiveness, every act of worship carries increased spiritual significance. Engaging in duas (supplications) during Umrah in Ramadan is especially powerful, as it is a moment when Allah’s mercy and blessings descend upon the believers.

Throughout Tawaf, Sa’i, drinking Zamzam, and praying at Maqam Ibrahim, pilgrims have the opportunity to pour their hearts out in supplication, asking Allah for guidance, forgiveness, and barakah. Additionally, the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially Laylatul Qadr, offer a chance to make duas that can change one’s life and destiny.

In this blog, we will explore the best duas to read during Umrah in Ramadan, focusing on Quranic supplications and Sunnah duas, ensuring that every pilgrim can maximize their rewards and return home spiritually transformed.

Duas to Read Before Leaving for Umrah

Before embarking on the sacred journey of Umrah, it is important to seek Allah’s protection and guidance. The following duas should be recited before setting out:

Dua for Seeking Allah’s Help in Travel

Allāhumma innā nas’aluka fī safarinā hādhā al-birra wat-taqwā wa min al-‘amali mā tarda
“O Allah, we ask You for righteousness and piety in this journey and deeds that please You.”
(Sunan At-Tirmidhi: 3446)

Dua for Protection While Traveling

Subḥāna alladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahu muqrinīn wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn
“Glory be to Him who has brought this under our control, though we were unable to control it, and indeed, to our Lord, we shall return.”
(Surat Az-Zukhruf: 13-14)

Best Duas to Read During Umrah in Ramadan

Duas to Read Upon Entering Makkah

As a pilgrim enters Makkah, they should remember that they are about to step into the holiest city on Earth, home to the Ka’bah. It is Sunnah to enter Makkah with humility and gratitude.

Dua When Entering Makkah

Allāhumma hādhā ḥaramuka wa amnuka faḥarrimnī ‘ala an-nār wa āminnī min ‘adhābika yawma tab‘athu ‘ibādak
“O Allah, this is Your sacred land, make me forbidden for the Hellfire and grant me security from Your punishment on the day You resurrect Your servants.”

Duas for Tawaf (Circumambulation of the Ka’bah)

During Tawaf, there are no fixed duas, but it is recommended to recite any supplication sincerely. However, the following duas are frequently recited by pilgrims:

Dua Between the Yemeni Corner and Black Stone

Rabbana atina fi al-dunya hasanah wa fi al-akhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhab an-nar
“Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire.”
(Surat Al-Baqarah: 201)

Duas for Sa’i (Walking Between Safa and Marwah)

While performing Sa’i, pilgrims remember the struggle of Hajar (AS) as she searched for water for her son, Prophet Ismail (AS).

Dua at Mount Safa

Inna aṣ-ṣafā wal-marwata min sha‘ā’iri allāh
“Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah.”
(Surat Al-Baqarah: 158)

General Dua During Sa’i

Allāhumma ighfir warḥam wa anta al-a‘azzu al-akram
“O Allah, forgive and have mercy, for You are the Most Honorable and Generous.”

Dua for Standing at Maqam Ibrahim

After Tawaf, it is Sunnah to pray two Rak’ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim and make supplications.

Wattakhidhu min maqāmi ibrāhīma muṣallā
“And take the standing place of Ibrahim as a place of prayer.”
(Surat Al-Baqarah: 125)

Duas for Drinking Zamzam Water

After completing Tawaf and Sa’i, pilgrims drink Zamzam water, which is blessed and has healing properties.

Dua After Drinking Zamzam

Allāhumma innī as’aluka ‘ilman nāfi‘an wa rizqan wāsi‘an wa shifā’an min kulli dā’
“O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from every disease.”

Duas for Leaving Makkah

Leaving Makkah after Umrah is a deeply emotional moment. Pilgrims should make duas to return again.

Dua Before Leaving Makkah

Allāhumma lā taj‘al hādhā ākhira al-‘ahdi bil-bayti al-ḥarām warzuqnī al-‘awdah ilayhi marrātin ‘adīdah
“O Allah, do not make this my last visit to the Sacred House, and grant me the chance to return many times.”

Conclusion

Performing Umrah during Ramadan is one of the most spiritually uplifting experiences a Muslim can have. As the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, it carries the reward of Hajj, though it does not replace the obligation of Hajj. Engaging in duas throughout the journey is essential, as it allows pilgrims to seek Allah’s mercy, guidance, and blessings at every step.

From the moment of departure to entering Makkah, performing Tawaf, Sa’i, drinking Zamzam, and standing at Maqam Ibrahim, each act of worship is an opportunity to connect with Allah. The duas mentioned in this guide help maximize the rewards of Umrah and strengthen faith. Since Ramadan is the month of forgiveness, prayer, and spiritual renewal, every dua made is more likely to be accepted.

As pilgrims complete their journey, they should continue their devotion even after returning home, implementing the lessons of patience, gratitude, and sincerity gained during Umrah. May Allah grant all believers the chance to perform Umrah in Ramadan, accept their duas, and bless them with a return to the holy lands. Ameen.
